Recycling Tips

It's never been easier to recycle. Follow our simple steps and start today.

  • Look for recycling logos on packaging before placing anything in the bin. With recycling centres available at a number of supermarkets and an increasing number of local councils providing recycled collection services there's no excuse, we've even provided a link to help you find the one closest to you!
  • Buy a bag for life from your local store and re-use for your regular grocery shopping - then there's no need to use plastic bags
  • Use plastic takeaway containers for packed lunches
  • Start a compost heap with garden cuttings and kitchen waste
  • Recycle your birthday, greetings and Christmas cards
  • Refill computer ink cartridges rather than purchasing new ones - also saving you money!
  • Purchase a sports drink bottle for the gym and fill with your favourite drink rather than disposable plastic bottle drinks
  • Use egg trays to grow tomato and plant seedlings
  • Donate half-used pots of paint to charities and community groups
  • Recycle your old mobile phone when you upgrade to a new one - some networks even pay for old phones!
